Google announced the launch of a
photo sphere viewing widget that can be embedding in any website. It clearly
states that the 360 degree panoramic images taken with android devices are not
limited to just Google services. This new Android App can be easily embedded in any other web sites.
Android 4.2 jelly Bean provides a
feature known as photo sphere camera that allow user to snaps photo in any
direction and piece them together to view a full 360 degree panoramic images. Initially
you can view these Photosphere images on your phone, share them to Google+ and
add them to Google maps, but from now onward you can also embed it anywhere
else on the web.
The changes, with the launch of new
code widgets allowing Photosphere images to be embedded in the HTML of a
standard web page. Now every website can use this amazing feature and make
their web page more attractive and live looking. The process isn't anywhere
near as simple as a YouTube video embeds. You'll need to know the exact URL of
the image you want to use, as well as a bunch of other parameters calculated
from metadata on Google's servers.
Right it's still a very small
minority of Android devices that has the ability to create these images, but
regardless, this new code is an important step in opening up 'spheres to
third-party sites. Being
able to view these beautiful 360 images in more places certainly doesn't take
away from the sting that many of us feel for not having Android 4.2 yet, but it
is still certainly a welcome feature.
